I saw all the AWESOME Macro work here and decided to add a one I did -
I'm doing a 365 project on my blog (external link) and last night used my 70-300 macro lens (yes the cheap Sigma one, I've had it since I shot film back in the day) to get a few water drops.

Very nice. I love the color and contrast.

Not sure why, but call me JJ.
I used to hate math but then I realised decimals have a point.

Trust me I'm just as amazed. I'll give this a try with a better lens this weekend and with more colors. If I get something cool I'll post it.

Sorry for the late response I really have to set up the notifications on these subscriptions.

Used a Paint roller pan, had the f-stop at around 8.0 - 16, use a pen to set the focus point just at where the drop was hitting, the set the shutter and ISO, and then hit the shutter.

Here is a link (external link) to the original post, there is a video tutorial in it.

Thanks! Yes Old lenses rock with they work on digital cameras. I'm even tempted to get a converter ring for some of my old Pentax k-1000 lenses for my nature stuff.

70-300 macro lenses at 270mm ish, F16, 1/180 - 1/250, ISO between 160 - 320, and flash at 1/8th power.

flash is at camera right for blue & yellow hitting the blue & yellow foam paper that site behind the paint roller tray.
