Flash for HS football - Evaluative vs Average

I think I will go out tonight to shoot some football.

Which flash metering mode do you guys recommend, average or evaluative? I think it is C. Fn 14 on 1dmk2.

Sony A7rIV, , Tamron 28-200mm, Sigma 40mm f1.4 Art FE, Sony 85mm f1.8 FE, Sigma 105mm f1.4 Art FE

Not for night football, but the general rule of thumb I use is Average if the subject fills the frame pretty fully, otherwise Evaluative. It works OK for me.

Sonny, I just posted some shots. Used Average metering. It is hard when shooting with flash and lot of times I was on the wrong side of the QB. Got to know the teams which is hard if you don't shoot same time quite often.
