Does anyone have a suggestion about the best way to mount a QFlash in an Apollo?

I just got one, along with the L bracket, thinking that would help.

Well tonight I tried to set it up to see what it would take. Thinking about using it for formals at the alter.

Either I'm a klutz (highly possible) or I'm missing something because the exercise was a disaster. Back to the shoot through.

I just tried with my 580EX. What am I missing.

It seems to be impossible to get the Apollo to tilt down at all when the stand is going through the hole with the zippers.

And when I get the thing mounted to the umbrella adaptor, the flash head is like right against the back of the Apollo.

Right now this appears to be a really poorly designed device.

Someone with experience help me understand how this thing works.

The Westcott website is useless.

Which size apollow box?

Tilt and flash sticking high are typical issues. Not to mention removing front diffusion panel for each adjustment.

It sounds like you are using it correctly. I have the 28" Apollo and I'm not too fond of it because of the lack of tilt and the placement of the flash inside the softbox being so close to the back and sitting high, not center. I use it on a 430EXII and a Vivitar 285HV. When using the Vivitar, the flash head pushes against the top of the softbox creating a hump on outside.

Decided to purchase it after watching Zack Arias's OneLight DVD.

I have 28".

I'm not sure where to send it back or work out a proper way to mount a flash in it.
Great idea, but not well implemented.
