I just purchased a 50D in a kit.. it came with a lens (something like 18-200 3.5-5.6.... I am not sure and I don't have the camera with me....)

Is that a decent lens or should I trade it in for a 2.8 XXmm to XXmm?

Currently I have a 2.8 70-200 and I am looking for something to go with that lens...

What do you suggest?

I am not thrilled with the idea of 3.5 - 5.6.... Do I need to be that concerned?

Google is your friend a lot of this you could have answered on your own.

Yes they just announced an IS version of the Tamron.

Good places to by include B&H photo, Adorama, Amazon, local camera stores. If a price seems way to be good to try its usually a scam site or your looking at the non IS version.

I pre-ordered my Tamron 17-50 f/2.8 VC, very excited about it. I'm hoping it will be almost as good as the Canon 17-55 IS, but for $650 not $1000+. If i were you I'd wait a bit and see how people like it! :)

Since getting my 50D I've been using my Tamron 28-75mm f/2.8 more and more as my general purpose lens as opposed to my Tamron 17-50mm f/2.8.. It's such a nice combo..

If you don't mind spending, buy the Canon 17-55mm f/2.8 IS USM. Great lens.

I don't know the cost today.. I've had my Tamron 28-75mm f/2.8 for around three years.. My wife picked it up for me when she was in Bangkok..
