Airbrushing - Before and After

Before and after of a shot I took of one of my teachers.

Amazing what a little airbrushing can do:

Jack... I think you did a good job. I think you may have gone a little far though... he is starting to look feminine. He has fine features and that doesn't help. Moles are tricky. Does he want them removed? If I was doing the work, I would do a little work under his left eye and slightly lighten the wrinkles and leave it at that.

Oh, I forgot to say, I'm not doing this for him, I'm just doing it to allow me to get a little more airbrushing practice for the near future, when I'll be selling photos and charging for airbrushing.

Do you think that - if you didn't see the original photograph - the airbrushed version could be passed off as real? That's what I'd really like to know.

Yes, but a little too clean. He is very clean shaven. Most men have a much more enhanced shadow. You will usually have some ingrown hairs or red areas in the beard to deal with.
The real challenge is to remove blemishes without removing skin texture. I know that some retouch artists zoom in very close and do not use blur. Instead, they go over the skin bit by bit cloning and healing the imperfections away. They will also use liquify if they think it is necessary.

No. His forehead and under his eyes are a dead giveaway. You've smoothed them out to much resulting in an unnatural skin texture. You've removed a lot of the character that makes him look like him.

Back off just a little bit, especially for men. You've made him look to feminine. That's not what most men would want in a finished product.

I agree. The airbrushed image makes him look like a Metrosexual smothered in foundation and other cosmetics.

Lol, okay, thanks for all the comments everyone.

I'm aware that it's a little overdone - I wouldn't dream of completely removing all of someone's moles and wrinkles if I was doing this 'for real', I just wanted to see how far I could go with this photo.

As for the liquify and hair removal tools, I don't even know what they are, lol - I don't use Photoshop, just Jasc's old Paint Shop Pro 9. All I used was the clone tool, the airbrush tool, and the dodge and burn tools, no blur, and no fancy Photoshop gadgets.

ootsk - To be completely honest, I'm not too fond of what you've done to the photo, the only noticeable difference is that his face now looks very flat and has lost the shine and vibrancy I captured in the shot through the use of lighting.

Either do i. I paid 50 euro for that haircut for my dog. I (well the dog did) also got a bath/shampoo and a nail clipping included in the price.

For Christ's sake, lmao.
