Well I have landed a new job, and landed on a new drilling rig. Still new to the drilling field as before I worked in the GOM before, but not on the drilling end of business.
Here are a few pics of the rig I am on. All I have with me is my WA, so I am limited to do what I can.
Not the rig I am on, but one that is parked next door, so you have an idea what a semi looks like from the outside.
The 200' "derrick". this is where the pipe and riser are handled.
The drill flloor. Everything is completely automated, so I will be BUSY (I'm an electronic's tech). But this is the way of the future, less manual labor, which equals for more safety.
We are currently anchored off the port of Singapore, we can see the construction going on to add more land. Tons of cargo ships holding dirt and sand, and everyday, they are being off loaded to add the additional land. From what I hear, it appears the land has already been sold and plans to build sky scrapers have already been laid out. Yet the land is still undeveloped.
