Going out after a long time. It was very nice game. Used 550ex at 1/4 power on a bracket above the 300mm f2.8 IS. Camera 1dmk2. ISO 800. Aperture between f2.8 and f4.0. SS at 1/250.

What I find hard is that at high school level there is not much separation between players like at College and NFL level. Very few oppotunities to shoot QB throwing at receiver. Lot of shots were just bunch of players. These are the good ones from 220 shots that I took.

These look good Bobby. Obviously you have a bit of work to do on the eyes and I'm guessing your flash isn't that far above the lens. Exposure looks good though. I know how you feel about getting a bunch of throw away shots. I'll post some up later from last night. Welcome back!

Thanks Dan. Yes, I need the bracket that you guys are using. I was just using my regular RRS bracket and got red eyes. I also need another body with something wide for close up shots.

Good shots...After reading from someone else on here, I mounted my flash upside down on the monopod about a foot below the camera. Helped greatly with the red eye problem.

Thanks.

I used to have the flash below the lens but it gives that big black shadows which I don't like. So I am trying to move back to flash above the lens.

I agree about nice pics--especially #2. The eyes need PP work.

Been meaning to start a thread about the 7D and the special setting where you can use the on-camera flash as well as a unattached slave, i.e 580. (not sure about which flashes do this)

But I am looking for as much info as possible (not in this thread)

Anyone ever tried a mount that was 18" or 20" above the camera but 10" to 15" inches right or left as well?

Bobby -

very nice pics. Is the new arrival finally letting you sleep and shoot every now and then?

Happy shooting.

Thanks Phil, I got red eye as flash wasn't high enough and totally forgot how to fix in PS.

Pat,

Nice to hear from you. Kevin is keeping us real busy these days. That is why I went out after long time. I am hoping he can grow faster as I need an assistant to carry my gear.
