As I try to take advantage of an opportunity to shoot night football, mother nature just kicked me in the butt! Leaving for work at 6:20 a.m. the weather man said no rain till midnight. Ironically as the game started at 7 pm, the rain arrived.

Shot 1 half and headed home.

Best action shot was last and still very soft. I have a lot of pre-snap shots that look great, but what's the challenge in that?

1st shot with new 50D and Quantum attached. The lower flash was recommended to light up the faces. It is just a shame that it still produces red-eye.

I like the last one. Why flash sideways? When I used flash down below the lens, I had it far down. It did give me demon eyes for far off subjects but rarely red eye. Try to increase the distance between flash head and the lens.

How is quantum? I am using cpe-e4 on my 550ex and can barely get 2 shots in a sequence at 1/4 power.

I Why flash sideways?

I had it under the 300 two weeks ago and leaned it on the turf once too many times and the secure clip on the shoe butterfield and broke. So I had to order a new one from B&H -$60. I place it on the side, with a slight upward angle to get the faces.

I loved it. the recharge rate was unreal for the 1st quarter, maybe 100 flashes. I woudl shoot 1 pre-snap and two during a play, easily. Although by the end of the 1st half, it took a few more second to regen and I was not able to get off more than one shot a play.

The first is pretty cool and really like the last. I like a little motion blur as long as the face it tack sharp. I had problems with red eye and weird shadows when I shot under. Change the angle of the flash a little to see if that will help with the eyes.
