Thanks for the info, Phil. I guess I will find out this coming Saturday if I get to use the strobes or not. I haven't been to this particular school so I don't know what to expect. I may have to use light stands.

There are four regional playoff matches scheduled so I should stay busy all day.
The policy you quoted is a lot like this one (external link). I have it printed and it will be with me when I meet the officials and coaches.

Hopefully, I will get a few keepers.

FWIW, the 2009 NCAA women's volleyball rules explicitly allow strobes. Section 1.4.5.2

It is online

phil some good stuff here, so since you asked for some critique on this Ill give you my bit..

1-4,6 are all soft or the focus is just a tad off..
-1 the focus is on the player on your side of the net
-2 is focused on the player closest to you.
-3/4/6 are just a tad soft all together.

7 is great but looks just a tad dark on my monitor. Nice timing however!

You had some great action in all of these too however and I think that helps the images a huge deal.

So why did the AD Send you that email about the strobes?

I had initiated a correspondence with him to determine what the credentialing procedure was for the state tournament and if there were any different rules that I needed to follow. The coach and the AD have been helpful in getting me full access. This information was CC to the local weekly paper which typically shoots volleyball with two speedlights shot direct rather than a bounce. In our small town, there is a good working relationship between the shooters and the school. The paper uses me to shoot some contests when their man is away or shooting another event. It is very cooperative and collegial. Thanks for the C & C. I appreciate it. Got to improve the focus.
