Does anyone else have trouble leaving their dog at the kennel/sitters when going on a vacation? We are going away for a week around xmas and have to leave the dogs behind. I soooooo hate the thought of being away from my Cricket. Am I really weird?

We don't spend the night away from home without our dogs being with us, and we seldom spend the night away from home. On the other hand, we like our home and like being here. It's all set up for us. We can do day trips to the Oregon coast, the Cascades, central Oregon, the Seattle area. All of our immediate family is within a half hour to 3 and a half hour drive. We don't miss going on the typical vacation. But on the other other hand, if I could afford it, vacationing on the island Neil visited last year would be awesome!

When it was just me, I wouldn't go anywhere I couldn't take her. Except to the June meetup. But, I'm here with hubby now and some of his friends have rented a large cabin in Montana for several couples to spend a few days. Dogs aren't allowed there. So, gotta leave the little girl behind.

Maybe the cabin was soooo remote, the owners never heard of dogs...so they were like "err, no....dogs...we don't know what them things are!"

New dog, we'll decide on his name tomorrow. He's 1 year old, and related to Scooter and Pokie, our other Japanese Chins, and weighs about 6.5 pounds. He had to get up at 3 AM Missouri time this morning for the drive to the airport, then spent 8.5 hours in airplanes getting here. He's a tired boy.
