I'm off to clean out my closet. I'm trying to convince hubby that its a good idea to move the washer and dryer upstairs...I'm not sure he's sold, but it would make things so VERY much easier for me to get done and put everything away, I think!

fun!

Although, I have heard, after some research into this myself, that washers aren't meant to be on the second floor.

School lunch was actually tasty! They made fajita spiced chicken over rice...it had some zip to it! yummy!

If we had a two story home, there would be no question, we would have a laundry on the second floor. The only issue is that the basement stuff would have to be brought 2 floors up is all. In Alberta, by code, there needs to be a floor drain provided as well, if not in the basement.

Having grown up in your average wood-framed three level abode (basement, 1st Floor, 2nd Floor) but now living in a single story "split" floorplan (master in the back, away from most of the house) I'll take single story for the rest of my life...

I've just heard that washers aren't built to be on second floors because the flooring isn't as strong as a first floor.

But, I think it was HGTV so I am most definitely mistaken.

We really wanted ours on the second floor...but the logistics of moving it, well, it didn't happen.

I'm ok with it.

We live in a ranch and i can tell you that having the washer and dryer on the same level is a real benefit. :)

Even when living in a ranch, it was in the cellar, and was seriously uncool.

oh my gosh! I was just watching sports news. There's an investigation against a Kansas jayhawks football coach because he "grabbed a player, yelled at that player and poked his finger into the chest of that player". Holy cwap. If a football player can't handle that, he shouldn't be a football player. And secondly (mothers were quoted in this interview) what is the world coming to? This is an "investigational" issue?? OH MY GOSH! I think there are plenty of REAL issues out there that investigators could keep busy with.

Oh good heavens. They need to put on their big girl pants.

Cutie - but obviously Miss Mini is feeling shorted on camera time - you need to introduce a photo-parity program for the two of them.

^^ That!

I sent the peppermint fudge to Dan's work. The consensus is that it's good but NOT AS GOOD AS THE VELVEETA FUDGE!! holy moo! That fudge has an aftertaste that is unpleasant (the velveeta one). I'm wounded and laying in a heap, waiting for eternity to swallow me.

And, all this time, I thought I worked with people who had no taste...

Feel free to send me any leftover fudge (the GOOD fudge -- not the Velveeta stuff). I'll make sure it doesn't get wasted on inferior taste buds. ;)

Latest update from Arizona: Heather got to the hospital this morning to find her dad awake and feeling much better. The nurses have had him up and sitting in a chair at least twice this morning. As far as I know he is still in cardiac intensive care...

Glad to hear he's still continuing to improve! And, sorry to hear you're still eating SPAM...

Pretty sure XM launched their 24/7 Christmas channel yesterday...

Gah! Indeed...

I'm surprised it took them so long, honestly...

My subscription with XM expires in January. I won't be renewing.

I agree, we have a split-level home too. I would never want a two story again after living in one for a few years.

I've just heard that washers aren't built to be on second floors because the flooring isn't as strong as a first floor.

The floor should be built exactly the same as the main, if the spans are the same. Some, like the original parts of my house, barely met code at the time, and the washer would really bounce, even when balanced. New homes with engineered joists rarely suffer this effect though, and almost all the homes we build, are two story due to the minimal lot size to build them on, and we always put a laundry on the second floor. We sometimes add a second one in the basement too.

I don't even know what to say. I played football throughout H.S. and a bit in college and i can attest that if that's all my coach did I would consider it an easy practice.

Me too. I always lived in a multi floored house until we bought this last one. I almost didn't get it because it was a ranch but the price was so right. After living here for a few years i am sold on ranches.
