Hey All,

I'm new, to both the forums and photography. Can you give me some critiques of my duck friends I hung out with yesterday? Thanks!

I can see now that #1 is not sharp enough, but what else can I improve on?

Alissa

Try to get them to swim out of the shade...then their colors will be much more vibrant and have that metallic sheen. :)

Photo's #2 and #3 are nice captures. What lens are you using for these images? By the way, welcome to the forum.

#3 is a great shot!! Love it...

Even when shooting in a park environment, try and make it look as "wild and natural" as possible. Make sure not to have your subject not so dark, like #1. Bump up your ISO to 320 or so in a situation as #1 and see what you come up with!

I hope you don't mind, I did a few things in Lightroom. Bumped up the exposure, fill light, blacks, as well as the contrast with a slight sharpening.

Then I just had some fun, took the BG and softened/warmed it up a tad just to make the perdy mallard really jump out.

Second shot is warmer...but still alot of darkness in the head. There's only so much you can do when the subject is in the shade without a flash. Still a nice image nonetheless.
