I don't have much personal experience with VT wildlife, although I know they have a lot of it. This web site should be helpful: http://www.vermontvacation.com/nature/story_watching.asp (external link) . You might also take the ferry across to Adirondack Park in NY. Here is a web site for it: http://www.apa.state.ny.us/About_Park/wildlife.htm (external link) . Have fun.

You are going to love Vermont. You're coming a little late for leaf peeping but it will still be beautiful. It will be cold so don't be surprised if it's already snowing! A few of my favorite spots in the VT area.

-Mount Mansfield and Smugglers Notch State Park, located in Stowe,VT is absolutely incredible. It's the highest peak in Vermont and offers amazing views of the Vermont landscape.

-Overlook Park, Spear St in South Burlington, VT. A small park with breathtaking views of the Lake Champlain and the Adirondack mountains.

-Shelburne Farms, located in Shelburne, VT, is an old summer home owned by one of the Vanderbilts.

-Lake Bomoseen and Bomoseen State Park, Bomoseen, VT. This is a happens to be Vermont's largest lake and it offers some amazing sunsets.

-Bolton Potholes, Waterbury/Bolton, VT. A beautiful series of waterfalls and swimming holes set in the VT mountains.

-Sleepy Hollow Farm, White River Junction, VT. This is the home of Aerosmith Guitarist Joe Perry, it also happens to be one of the most scenic farms in Vermont.

-Dead Creek Wildlife Area, Vergennes, VT. This is a wildlife area along Route 17.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

Sam, how far is Dead Creek from Williston (staying here) and Swanton (working here)

That's seems the place I'd like to visit. Also looking at Missiquoi...what are your thoughs (close to where I'll be working). I won't have much time if any to get out but I must plan just in case...might can squeeze out one location. I am mostly into bird photography.

Thanks

Dead Creek is about 45mins-1hr from Williston and about an 1hr15mins from Swanton.

I've heard Missisquoi is pretty neat but I've never been there.

Sam I went to Dead Creek and it was quiet as a church mouse. There were some Snow Geese but they were on the refuge where humans can't go.
