Yup, perfect companion to your 580EX.

Keep in mind that the 420EX does not have a manual mode...

I picked up my 420EX a couple years ago for $100 on here...

the 420EX would be good if you kept it on your camera on ETTL II

If you want any other creative control after, I would try to look for a 430 EX or one of those Vivitar flashes that everyone has been picking up.

I had one, I sold it for $70 on craigslist in about 20 minutes and had the money in two hours because the guy had to drive from somewhere way up north. In those two hours I got 5 more replys from people saying the definitly wanted it, and one fellow who said he'd take it but 'd have to reduce the price because he lived 20 minutes away and that was a long way to drive- people on craigslist can be funny.

I bought two 580exII's and I don't like them.
