I'm thinking of purchasing a 300 2.8 non-IS and I know Canon doesn't service it anymore. Where's the best place to get a lens serviced that Canon doesn't do anymore?

IMHO - unless you personally know the seller I wouldn't do it. It's not worth the headache. If you can't afford the 2.8 then get the 300mm f4 get that one until you can afford the 2.8.

Thanks what I say and I'm sticking to it.

No, I'm asking where do people get older lenses serviced, or just lenses in general serviced?

I have never had to use them, a friend used http://www.midstatecamerarepair.com/ (external link) for an older 400 2.8 said they did a great job, and prices are reasonable. I have been looking at getting an older 300 2.8 cause prices are so good, but my main concern is not who can fix them, but can these people get parts.
