I did last night. This is him, right before leaving sticky fingerprints on the front element and all over the lens hood of my 10-22mm.

I know I overreacted, but I read him the riot act. I feel a bit bad, I probably should have apologized once I calmed down, but he looked to have moved on from the incident which, in all reality, was an incident for me but an "oops, sorry" to him.

But this is the first time in 14 years of photography that I've ever done this and that includes a 5 year stint in Photojournalism.

So, it made me wonder, has anyone else given a subject a piece of their mind? Or worse? And what for?

Hey, you went to battle, every now and then you're going to get shot at.

Sometimes you have to get in harm's way to get the shot, and sometimes harm will get you.

Sometimes I yell at my subjects to get them to move a certain way or something, if they're out of earshot. I don't think I've ever been actually angry.

Sometimes I yell at birds when they fly away. Hey you son of a! Get back here.

This would be the very reason I keep a UV filter on the front of my lenses—a hell of a lot easier to clean than the lens, and keeps me from having a heart attack in the meantime.

Sticky fingers come at you pretty often when you're constantly taking pictures of a toddler, after all!

Nope, never yelled at anyone while shooting. I do it to relieve stress, not to get stressed up. Personally, I don't mind cleaning the front element, I guess some get real touchy about it. I guess if you are that type, a UV filter may help.

Life is too short, take it easy I say.

Fingerprints aren't harmful and filters are a b1tch to clean compared to the front element.

I yelled at a motorcycle cop once. He stopped between me and my subject, a B-17G while she was starting up her engines.

I've yelled at (or because of) plenty of my subjects but at anywhere between 100 and nearly 700mph, I doubt any of them have ever heard me.

Ya this happened to me last night by one of my Fraternity brothers. I completely berated him and told him that if anything was damaged, he owed me $900. I was pretty pissed, as that had never happened until then. Ive only had the lens 2 weeks
