Since there seems to be quite a few photogs on this forum that recently went to the Alliance Airshow in Ft. Worth, I thought it would fun to start a thread for everyone to post their photos from the show. I've already started a few threads with some photos:

#1 Blue Angels
#2 F/A-18
#3 A-10

I'll add more photos to this thread as I process them. Post away!

Here's several from my day... thanks for starting this thread! BTW, your pics are links, not actual images. Gonna fix em?

My very first Alliance Airshow.

I had a blast at my first airshow, unfortunately I didn't make it out until sunday which was very cloudy. Didn't know what to expect with shooting under so much cloud cover but I snuck a few lucky shots out. This is one of the best ones i've had so far. C&C welcome.

Thanks! They are links to other threads that I've already started on the subject, not directly to individual photos. Great shots btw. I especially like what you did with the V-22.

gdusek - Awesome F-18 shot. On Friday they allowed him to punch through the sound barrier. It was pretty freaking sweet.

I feel hosed, we didn't get the sound barrier permission on Saturday. :( Excellent capture on that one gdusek!

That F/A-18 is not breaking the sound barrier. That's verbotten by the FAA at airshows.

It is showing though, where the shockwave begins to build up as you approach Trans-Sonic flight.

You are correct, however, they managed to do it on Friday the day before the airshow. Its hard to mistake a noise that loud. I was surprised to say the least. That area is rather populated. I would imagine they obtained a waiver.

So how many windows were broken?

More than likely it was an accidental breaking of the sound barrier than having permission to do so. The actual speed of sound can vary depending on altitude and air conditions (moisture, temp, etc). I'd guess it was a little lower than he expected on Friday and he pushed it too close. As Jay posted, your excellent photo is showing the water vapor coming off the aircraft. This usually begins before reaching the speed of sound.

To clear up any confusion or question about the picture I took, the F18 crew chief said they were granted permission to demonstrait the F18's high speed performance capabilities. "The pilot will now make a low pass at a speed of almost the speed of sound without breaking the sound barrier." Not only were they granted permission to do it once, they were given clearance to do it a second time. The sound barrier was not broken that day.

Ah, I feel better now. Still, I didn't see anything close to that visual display on the day I attended.
