Just curious to see what people think. I don't like a few things with the shot, but I'd like to see if it's just me being picky or if you guys notice them as well.

very nice photo, perhaps could use some more saturation to bring out the fall colours

I agree with above - quality of water is very nice (nice purple tinge) but my first impression was that there is not much differentiation between material qualities -- bridge (lumber), rocks and abutment (stone) and trees (wood) all look a little homogeneous.

A well thought-out composition.

This picture belongs in someone's calendar.

It's a great picture from the standpoint of composition, lighting, exposure, and color balance.

Perhaps the only issue might be the very large and un-interesting body of water just upstream from the bridgle, which makes up most of the foreground.

I think it's a great photo. Nice composition and mix of subject, nice flow effect on the water.

If I were to suggest anything it would probably be to try boosting the saturation a little more to make the colors 'pop' a bit and slightly twe...never mind, when I look at it on the correct monitor I have to agree with Robert.

Maybe crop out a tiny bit of the foreground water to tighten up the "area of interest" there in the center. Otherwise, I'd call it a win!:)

Some have mentioned saturating the color. One thought is to selectively saturate the color or increase contrast (which in turn saturates) of the bridge, stones, and forest leaving the water as it is. IMO this may better balance the overall image by deepening the forest areas and bridge which are not printed at the same density as the water.

maybe a little longer to get all the water smooth looking, you can see some ripples, but not all...thats my only thought..:)

Thanks Justin. After the edit below I'm starting to see that is the case.

Thanks Eugene. You pretty much described how I felt about the photo. I'll see what I can do to fix it up.

Thanks Andy. I have a version that was a longer exposure, I could try editing that one instead.

I like the image. It's a beautiful setting. I think the original print could be more balanced between the water and the land. I hope you are OK with an example of what I mean. All I did was use a curves layer with a mask blocking the water and added a little highlight lift and shadow drop (mids printed lower) to the land and bridge. To my eye this makes the water reflections more prominent. I added some sharpening of the land and bridge. JPEG compression is 31% so the sharpening will look a lot better on the original.

Thank you SO much. I don't mind the edit at all, in fact I love it. I love being able to see what other members envision and in this regard you've come out with a superior image imo. So I will defiantly be reediting to see what I can come up with.
