It all started with this tiny little speck. If your not specifically looking for them you could easily miss that they are there.

Wandering around the specks are all these tiny aphids. Some are larger and some so small that it's hard to imagine that they are alive.

Within a few days they hatch and voraciously start gobbling up the aphids. Though the aphids try to hide, this little guy hunt them out.

In a few days he grows much larger and continues on his aphid rampage. A few of these little guys can almost clear a plant of aphids overnight.

Having sated himself he attaches to a stem, draws up into his body and begins the pupa stage.

A couple day later out pops a shiny new lady bug.

Having a nice new spiffy shell first thing on our little guys mind is finding a date... and after a few drinks we all know what comes next. ;)

I never knew the first stage was such a mean looking bugger, good thing the last stage is friendlier looking.

Exceptional, as far as I'm concerned! Blew me away. I love the clarity in both the quality as well as the content/subject itself. Very educational and entertaining at the same time! Congratulations.

(note to self: ...need macro lens! ...track down bug eggs! ...valium in, caffein out!)

Canon 500D, Sigma 18-250mm & no clue how to make the best of either, yet!
