Hi,

Sorry for an extreemly poor first post/buying advice. I'm upgrading from a 400D/XTI to a 5d mark 2, allready decided that (I dont do sports). However I'm debating whether to go for just the body or the 24-70 kit.

On my rebel I love shooting with a nifty so I'm not too sure about getting a brick. I enjoyed lanscaping with the 10-22 which I rented so I am considering the 17-40 for that, and going for primes walkaround. I do a bit of macro with tubes and a bit of portrature also.

Or is it silly not to get the kit which admittedly saves a quite a few quid from the lens list price?

Thanks for you paitence.

I never heard about 24-70 being a part of 5Dii kit. At least in US it is 24-105/4, and the price of this lens in kit is $800 (more than $1000 if bought separately; plus, everybody is out if stock for 24-105, so you can resale it easily on ebay).

Plenty of places are selling it as a kit in the UK, so I assume its an offical canon kit.

24-70 is a great lens on my 5D as is the 17-40 but to me, the 24-70 is much more usable. 17 is pretty wide on a FF camera which is great but it doesn't give the overall range that the 24-70 does.
