I would like to carry:

-Nikon 14-24mm, 24-70mm and either 105mm Micro or 70-300mm VR.
-SB-600.
-Various minor accessories.

Any comments or suggestions are appreciated.

Thanks.

I'm very partial to the F3x for something like that.

I want to go with the minimalist approach and for most of my shooting it's either

wide+standard+macro

or

wide+standard+telephoto.

I'm just wondering if the lenses I listed will fit in the F-3X or do I need something a bit more roomier like 4-AF. Also, will they fit with the hoods reversed?

Thanks.

I carry a 5D, 24-70 2.8 and 70-200 2.8 IS with hoods in my F3x. 580EX goes in one of the outside pockets, and there's room in the main compartment for a PowerShot A630. So, yes, it's big enough for your stipulated lenses until you start carrying the 300 f/4 as the "telephoto" part of the equation.

Great. Thanks for your advise. Will get 3-FX today.

Thanks, again.

I, on the other hand, prefer the F4 because the dividers work perfect for a camera with lens attached plus 2 more lenses.

The impression I got is that as long as I don't try to store 70-200mm or a larger telephoto I should be able to fit 3 lenses with 1 being attached to the d300. Plus I'm sure at some point later I'll get another Domke bag (I am so tired of dragging Lowepro bags that weigh a ton all by themselves).

Depends on the exact lenses, I suppose. One thing I like the F4 is that with the Canon 24-105 I can leave the hood installed in the forward position so the camera is ready to go as soon as I pull it out of the bag.

My main concern was Nikon 14-24mm since it has a very large diameter.

I've actually stuffed a Sigma 15-30 along with the other stuff into my F3x a few times.

Having seen my buddy's nikon 14-24, i think the f-3x would be a tight fit. I'd probably get the F-4af if i were you. This review might help http://blog.ttljournal.com/t/domke-f-4af_nikon-d3.html (external link)
The f-4af is bigger than the f-3x and still looks like a tight fit.

Well I got F-3X and I have to say Domke bags rock! It fit 14-24mm, 24-70mm mounted and 105mm macro with room to spare for another lens. This is probably because I have d300 and not a big bulky D3 or higher. The lenses in F-3X pockets are not accessible until the body is take out (placed lens down) which is fine by me.

Thanks for everyone's input (I will be buying more Domke in the future :) ).

Keep an eye on the Member Activities forum for what we've got going on in the DC area. For sure we'll be having a spring Cherry Blossom shoot and probably a Chinese New Year one as well. Maybe even a Brookside Gardens/Mormon Temple Christmas Lights one. You'll see the odd Domke or two there.
