Two questions:

1. I have one dell desktop with a graphic card that has two outputs, one digital and one analog, currently I have two monitors connected. I have monitor one calibrated with Spyder2. Now how about the second one?

2. MacBook Pro 15” with external Dell 24” UltraSharp monitor, is it even possible to calibrate the monitor?

Thanks!!!

I am pretty sure that the spyder 2 only supports calibration for one monitor. I think some of the more pricey calibrators like the colormunki support 2 displays.

The Spyder2 Pro software supports dual monitors and, I believe, uses the same hardware as the Spyder2 Express.

I don't have a Mac, so can't give any details -- it should be a simple matter of running things on the first monitor and then running them on the second to create two different profiles.

Thanks for the responses.

Are you suggesting you can load two profiles at the same time?

Each monitor should have an associated profile that is loaded automatically. If things misbehave, you might need to go into your OS display properties and point it in the right direction, but as I'm not a Mac user I can't get more specific.

Most laptops, including the MBP won't be able to have both internal And external screen calibrated.

I'm messing around with my mbp, spyder 2, and 10.6 and believe I have both monitors calibrated by using the spyder device on both and then associating the profiles properly within System Preferences. You need to mirror the displays to get the device to work on the external and then take that option off when you have associations for both.

Hope that works, it did take me a minute of messing around to get that far.

I was using the Spyder2 with my new dual monitor set-up. It wouldn't support dual monitors so I ended up buying Spyder3Pro that supports dual monitors.

Maybe it's different in photography but I know that in video edit suites (AVID, FC, etc...) only one monitor was ever calibrated for absolute color fidelity.

The second monitor would be properly set up but would only ever be used as a workspace for toolbars and such.

If/when I migrate to a two monitor setup, this is how I intend to work. Having two monitors that are supposed to be identical (but probably aren't) would drive me nuts.
