B and H had them out of stock as of last night. I checked the webpage this morning and they had a few available. I did the unthinkable and placed my order.

The countdown begins. It should be here by Thursday evening.

Does it come with software to edit the HD video and will CS3 be able to process the RAW files?

Can't wait to get this camera in hand!

No video editing software, and windows movie maker isn't an option as it doesn't support quicktime.

CS3 won't open the RAW's unless you use adobe's DNG format.

I got my 7D from B&H yesterday. Man, is it a tank compared to my Xs. I think the 7D kit lens weighs more than the Xs does.

I had an early concrete pour to inspect in Palm Springs this am. Here's my very first photo using my new cam. Picture shot using Auto everything...just a quick snapshot really.

It's going to take me awhile to learn all the bells & whistles of my new camera.

Thanks guys!

For CS3 to support the camera RAW from the 7D do I just download and install Adobe DNG Converter and Camera Raw 4.6 update for CS3?

Yes on the DNG convertor, not sure if the update is required but it never hurts to have the latest version.

And congrats on the new cam, I am really loving mine.

Enjoy! Be sure to read through the manual at least a couple of times, and maybe more in the autofocus section.

Some Canon stuff and a little bit of Yongnuo.

Congrats! Have you downloaded the manual already so you are all set to go when it arrives?

Some stuff that says "Canon" on it and a happy trigger finger.

Yes, the latest version is required, just like it is for ACR. The camera came out just after the latest ACR/DNG release on September 14, so it will be about a three month wait before the version that has all of the camera styles included and also profiled to match the nominal 7D performance. At present, the profile is still a beta version, but it seems to be pretty close to nominal. I started out using DPP for my 7D, but quickly switched to using DNG Converter 5.5 since I am still using CS3 -- and probably will be for a while. I think that the ACR results are better than DPP.

To the OP, you will love the 7D. My other camera is an XTi and it is a fine camera, but it may start to feel rather lonely. The only downside of 18 megapixels is that the files are huge and processing takes about twice as long as it does for images from the XTi with its 10 MP.

I'm using the included Digital Photo Professional to adjust RAW's then save as 16-bit TIFF, which you can open with ACR. In order to open the RAW's directly with ACR, you will need Photoshop CS4, which includes the 5.x.x version of ACR. ACR versions that start with 4.x will never to able to open the RAW's directly. Adobe will be releasing an update to ACR 5.x so 7D shooters can open their RAW files with ACR directly from Bridge CS4.

Lightroom 2.5 will open the 7D raw image files. It has Camera Raw 5.5
