Your gear says you have a 500mm but these look like you were missing the reach. #1 needs the horizon straitened. I would have cropped in closer on some of them. #2 has someone's head in it, and the others have a lot of foreground white water that isn't doing much for the scene.

# 5 and 6 are to under exposed for my liking. I don't know if you were doing that for effect, but it kind of makes me squint to see the surfer. Though the same effect looks awesome in #7. Since you said edits are okay I tried one using the new Lightroom 3beta. I am just itching for excuses to use it. Just did some cropping straitening and moved some sliders around.

#3 would be my pick. I personally have been trying to stay in tighter in my sports photography. I've found that context isn't as compelling as sweat and dirt.

not sure if these have been processed yet, but try and keep your horizons straight and away from the center of frame. also, riders looked too underexposed (even for it to be "creative"). most riders (not pro) like to see their faces! =)
