U2 put on an amazing show in front of 96,000 fans at the Rose Bowl. btw, The Black Eyed Peas put on an impressive opener as well! And Slash made an appearance. I asked the lady at the gate nicely, and she let me bring in my camera with a "regular" lens. Here are a few pics. Thanks for viewing.

Damn, I wish I could of gone. Seeing U2 live is definitely on my bucket list.

Just out of curiosity, what is considered a "regular" lens?

Cool shots. That center piece is wild.

Cool shots. I picked up 2 tickets for their show next year in Brussels.

I actually have some shots of the stage at home when they were testing it. They set it up on their company grounds before the shows even started. I wonder if the guys came by to see it themselves :-)

The company that makes and designs their stage (and a lot of other big rigs) is 2 streets down the road where I live in Belgium, and just a few streets away from the best festival in Europe, Rock Werchter. U2 even played the festival a few times in the past.

It is so huge that you could see it from miles away.

Thank you all for the feedback! That "claw" is huge! it was even taller than the Rose Bowl. The cool thing about the entire atmosphere was that, unlike most modern stadiums, the Rose Bowl is not tiered, so it was one continuous "bowl" of people! I've been a huge U2 fan for twenty six years and been to many concerts, but this scene was like no other!

I was able to take in my 35L, which I used for the people shots and also the 24-70L. Our seats were not actually not that far from the stage, so I went as wide as 24mm for some of the shots, e.g. #1 and #8. I wish I could have an even a wider lens!

Here are a few more shots...

phamster...thank you! I was between 800 and 1600 for many of the shots and even 3200 for the really dark scenes. I dialed in negative exposure compensation to keep the big screen from blowing out.

Awesome shots! Much better than the ones I got with my little SD870IS, that's for sure. I saw them here in Toronto on Sept 16th after winning a pair of tickets. Long time fan - since the early 80s, but my first U2 concert.

Nigel
