Can anyone tell me if 2x 120W strobes would be useful in shooting cars? I have one speedlight which I can use off camera but want to purchase 2 strobes to go with it for shooting cars.

Useful? Yes. But there are a lot of things to think of, like the car color, type of paint, & how you use them. Look at post #40 here.
But generally, I don't use mine, and just wait for the good light.

Those are all great man. Love your work.

On that last one though...Are you strobing a rolling shot? Doesn't that freeze the wheels? Not an insurmountable problem in PS, but I'm just curious.

Well done!

^Thanks. For those two rolling shots I took one still exposure with the lights on the paint, then the rolling shot without any lights, and layered them together.

yes you easily can. seriously, don't listen to any one that says you can't. its a pretentious arrogant thing some photographers resort to when they think their work is superior and feel the only way to get the job done is how they did it themselves.

400 will be easier, but very possible with 150. with 400, you can shoot from as far back as you need. with 150, you'll have to get close and then crop your stands out. very easy task.

yes, 400 will make your job much easier, obviously. But if you know lighting and photography, you'll know how to make the job work with 150. why would you need 400ws? when you work with paying clients.

I'm curious to know what experience those comments are based on. I had a quick look in your profile to see your car photography but there are no links. Maybe you can post some of your car work with small strobes?

Not really happy with the result and I need to practice way more to get what I want to get.

light setup:
1YN560 left of the car
1 YN560 right of the car
1 YN560 in the car to light up the interior a little
No diffusers used

One speed light, walking around the car flashing it over and over again, there are no other lights except those coming from behind the camera a few miles in the distance of a city! Love the way it came out!

Nice shot! Love the way the Sandia mountains came out. Your shot is making me miss Albuquerque.

Hi guys, looooooong time stalker of this thread and last night decided to give this a go for myself but only have one speedlight so had to do it in multiple shots and then merge. Tell me what you guys think for a first time and possible pointers for next time?
