We had 4 580's there with power down to 1/4-1/2 to fill in certain areas. But for some reason just could not get the roof area lit up as good as the sides without blowing out the fenders or side. Had 2 on 8ft light stands, and 2 on 12ft stands all pointing down/across the car and ground. But we didnt use all 4 for every shot, i think 3 were used for the rear and side shot, sorry forgot the get the setup pic. Any ideas how to better light the hood and roof sections? C+C welcome because I need all the help I can get with this. 5D MKIII +grip, 7D+ grip, 50D+grip, Canon 10-22mm, Canon 17-85mm,Canon 70-200mm II IS f2.8L, Canon 24-105mm, Canon 50mm 1.8 II, Canon100mm f2.8 Macro, (2)Canon 580ex II, Canon Extender 1.4x II, (2) AB1600's

Wouldn't it create a shadow when the flash is fired because the magnet will space the temp plate out. 5D MKIII +grip, 7D+ grip, 50D+grip, Canon 10-22mm, Canon 17-85mm,Canon 70-200mm II IS f2.8L, Canon 24-105mm, Canon 50mm 1.8 II, Canon100mm f2.8 Macro, (2)Canon 580ex II, Canon Extender 1.4x II, (2) AB1600's

I know won't work in every situation but in the cases that it does, sure helps alot. Just looking at the above bike shot! Nikon D810 | 24-70/2.8G | 58/1.4G

Sep 03, 2012 22:56 | #2609 So, totally still learning. Washed my car so I figured I would go test stuff out.to the right pointed across the nose was an ab1600 and to the left pointed down the side of the car was my ab800. Probably shoulda swapped em but it worked ok. I really was wishing for a 3rd flash so the ab800 would light the back half, and have another light on the front fender to get that line to stand out better. Coulda woulda whatever still beginer at this lighting cars thing so I have lots of excuses. lol
So, I redid the edit on this photo after doing some thinking, some google-ing, some watching of this and that on youtube for ideas and I came up with this.
David
