Thought i'd go a little bit more in-depth with the latest shot and how the strobes were setup. In the end i used a total of 5 lights which was a little excessive - admittedly one of those was a fill-in and another to add colour to the background, the same shot could've easily been done with 3 flashes and a bit better positioning.

Camera - Canon 6D with 24-105 F4 L lens

Lighting - main = 2 x Lencarta Safari Li-On strobes (600w kit), 2 x eBay 300w plug-in 'hemisphere' (yongnuo) strobes (background) and 1 x Nikon SB28 flash gun (fill in)

To begin with i setup the first main flash for the side of the car, mounted very high (around 8-9ft) to reduce reflection. Unfortunately i didn't have a huge amount of space due to other cars in the workshop. Power was around 60%.

IMAGE: http://i154.photobucket.com/albums/s265/markriccioni1/IMG_2557-low_zps48f02311.jpg

With this flash in place, i then added the second Lencarta Li-On head pointed towards the front wheel and arch - around 6-7ft this time and roughly 40% power.

IMAGE: http://i154.photobucket.com/albums/s265/markriccioni1/IMG_2561-low_zps947f88e2.jpg

Third flash was then pointed towards the left side of the car - this was around 70% and i ended up using a softbox due to it being quite harsh.

IMAGE: http://i154.photobucket.com/albums/s265/markriccioni1/IMG_2568-low_zps3690930a.jpg

To finish with i added the Nikon SB28 towards the rear wheel as it was appearing a little dull compared to the rest of the pic. Overall exposure turned out alright with a little adjustment of the lights and ISO:

IMAGE: http://i154.photobucket.com/albums/s265/markriccioni1/IMG_2575-low_zpsee435535.jpg

To finish with, i then added a final strobe very low down behind the car with a red gel filter of the top to add a bit of drama/colour to the background. I'm not sure if i prefer it with or without the red, but it's a nice addition to an otherwise generic workshop background without the need for photoshop:

Finally, here's a setup shot to give you a rough idea on the light position and height of those used:

Black thing that clicks, and a some things that can screw on and off the front of the black clicky thing with the buttons. Some of the screw on bits have a pretty red accent.

contribution withdrawn due to people getting their spaz on everytime someone doesnt post a setup shot event though their post clearly says it was a single strobe/multiple exposure, it was a pitch dark location, you want a mobile phone picture of pure blackness?

I haven't posted anything in here because, at the current time, I don't have strobes. I like seeing others equipment and how it affect the the shot.. which will influence my purchases.

That's pretty much the point of this thread... See the word "setup" in the title? It doesn't say "post your pictures and tell us about it". You post your set up pic.. and if people like it they will ask you questions about it.

There are other threads if you want to just show some pictures using strobes, this thread isn't for that. Don't get all hurt because people want you to follow the point of the thread.

Been a while.. thought I'd throw something up.

Pretty standard 3 light setup, with Elinchrom gear to battle the sun.

The unit is an Elinchrom Ranger RX Speed AS, with 'A' Heads. The 3rd light is a Canon Speedlight 580EXII

These are really good end results! Be very interested in your technique to take the actual photos and blending them.

Here's a small shoot summary from the shots I've used.
It was only a lighttest for my technique, not a real shooting... bad location and background editing.
