Thanks, that actually helps a lot. I was aiming it towards the door itself and even tried bouncing it off the ground but it still came up hot. Ohh well, live and learn.

Also I was mixing in a lot of ambient light - this was not a night shot. I set the camera to about 1 stop under ambient light and then set the speedlights to meter what it should be. This isn't exact but it should get you close.

This was taken with a 550EX in the hotshoe, a 430EX to the left of the camera about 10 feet, and a 430EX to the right of the camera. I used the built in Master/Slave mode of the canon speedlights to trigger the slaves. I think I was using the ETTL mode for this shoot. The speedlights were also bare, possibly a diffuser on top but nothing else. Using the strobes allowed me to stop down the camera and capture the nice sunset. This hasnt been enhanced all that much, just the sky a bit darker and saturated. Brodie Butler (Perth, West Australia)

He made the body of the car look pretty good, & it shows what you can do when you understand how light can work to bring out the shape of something. It doesn't matter to me whether you use a strobe, flashlight, or 'late light' to do it as long as the end result is a good looking car with the highlights defining the contour that gives the car it's character. Just putting light on it is only a starting point. Highlights are what make it come alive. Considering how it's parked, I think he should have called it, "Guy comes home drunk"? ![]() Haha, valid point. Some of his work is pretty good. A7R3
