It looks like you tried for highlights in #4, but they aren't working for me. Look at the links in my Sig & try some late light shots before Summer gets here. And...,

I don't see a setup shot for ANY of those. This isn't the "show pictures you took of cars using off-camera light of any sort" thread.

Getting decent highlights while light painting using a softbox is quite hard. I'd say in the case of shot #4 your light source was too big and the highlights too inconsistent to be effective.

The rest of your shots look nicely lit though!

These were shot for RECOIL Magazine around between 11:30am and 12:30pm in the Fall. No compositing, just post in Photoshop.

How many stops ND filter should I use for a day strobe shot? Does my camera flash sync speed matter? Mine is 1/160.

ND filter? Why not just up the fstop? What kind of strobe are you using? Takes quite a bit of power to overpower the sun in the middle of the day.

Hi, and cheers from Finland!

I found this thread from Google few weeks ago and I've spent hours and hours reading the old posts and trying to learn how you guys are doing the trick. Now I tried this by myself. So far I've been photographing mainly ice hockey, so this is a little bit different thing. For these pics I used D800E + 70-200 VR1 + Elinchrom Ranger Quadra.

The car isn't very interesting, but it has been a great target for training. Shots taken about 15, but finally I used maybe six images for stacking.
