what do u mean u paste the images together?

What he'll do is take the multiple exposures where he's lit indivudual parts of the subject and composite them into one shot via PS.

I noticed most people are using bare flashes I expected to see more softboxes and umbrellas, any reasons for this? Are the strobes a little under powered if shot through a diffuser?

With cars there's really no reason to use diffusers. Typically it hurts more than helps because hot spots and light reflections increase in size dramatically.

Unless your diffusers are bed sheet sized and you're using them to help light a darker car

3 different exposures, each exposure had the flash at a different location to highlight a certain part of the car. I took those 3 exposures and put them together in PS by using layers.

are you asking me if I did light painting? These were shot with a speedlight, it wasnt light painting. Light painting is a cool way of taking shots though. Its a really good way to take shots of a black car cause strobes will just make specular highlights.

not 100% sure if these count as "strobist shots" but rather light paniting... they are at night (pitch black) and lit with a hand held LED torch, about 30-40 second exposure, shot with 450D, 18-55mm (@18mm) on a tripod and with a remote trigger,

Raymond amazing location. Although I am not sure how I feel about the underexposed background, and the fact that you see the top half of a plane coming up from the rear of the car. Also seems like the lighting on the side panels was a tad bit hot, on my monitor it seems like you are losing a lot of detail on the panels.

Yeah they were about to close so the lights in the hangar weren't as bright as normal, and the light fall off was insane from the hangar door being open and the back of the hangar being practically dark.

Here's another from outside.

Went a little different on this edit, the rest of the set are more "normal" looking...

First one is either OOF or there was some motion blur from an unsteady tripod. Just watch your WB when painting, you need to use custom/manual WB. White LED's tend to be very cool at usually around 7000k.

yeh it was a bit oof, it was pitch black and i was manual focusing, cos it wouldn't auto focus from the lack of light, even with the torches shone onto the car, wasnt a light around for about a kilometer
