Wow, your shots totally confirm that I kicked one up at a golf tournament, (looking for another errant drive!) in Central/South Indiana several years back!

I'm telling you, I was the freakin' laughing stock of the entire weekend for saying I was nearly attacked and killed by a copperhead rattlesnake!

Thanks for your shots of confirmation that Copperheads INDEED inhabit Indiana!

Wait 'til I tell those LOSERS!!!!

The day I shot these photos, a friend and I found 4 copperheads (that is what we were there to photograph) lying along side a downed tree, covered in the leaf litter, that was also in direct sunlight. It was a little un-nerving, there were 4 venomous snakes, 2 of us, and only 2 snake hooks. So we ended up hooking the ones we weren't photographing, into our back packs only to contain them until we were ready for them. According to DNR in Indiana Copperheads are very common. You just have to know where to look.

Venomous or not I am not one to free handle wild animals. I have nothing to prove!

i asked about timber rattlesnakes. i am from southern indiana and although have not found one in indiana, i finally have some concrete leads on where they are. springtime should be good in 2010.

as far as the racer goes, you really had nothing to prove by harassing it w/ your hook in the video.

Yes you did ask about the Timber in Indiana......sorry brain fart! I have seen two timbers in Monroe, and Brown County of course on days where my camera was in the car. If you want to seen them in Indiana just do some road crusing in the evening on ridge top roads.

Bolding mine.

Just make sure to leave out the rattlesnake part, or they'll continue to laugh at you! And you might want to leave out the attack and killed part too. Copperheads are pretty mellow & will usually only strike when provoked. And even if you were bitten, the chances of dying are very slim. So just mention that yes, you really did see a copperhead in Indiana. :D
