hey all i have a 450d with a 18- 55 mm (kit lens ) ive also ready the must buy lens is a 50mm prime i have purchased one and i love it but its onyl good for Portrait shots i have seen pictures heres a exsample

how what lens whould give that effect ?

look in the lens section under "lens sample photo archive" Canon 10 - 22, Sigma 10 - 20, Tokina 11 - 16 etc. there are gazillion sample images

You might actually get something close with your kit lens. Set it to 18mm, and get as close as you can to a car. You can put it in manual focus and set the focus ring to the nearest distance and shoot from that distance (or autofocus and back up until the focus locks in)

But basically, wide-angle and close up shooting will get you that "look" and 18mm might do it. If not, buy a 10-2x mm lens :)

18mm *might* give you that perspective, but the slight distortion is telling me that it's most likely under 18mm...in which case you need to check out some UWA lenses like the others have mentioned above.

ive tryed my hardest to get the right angle picture but i cant the 18 is wide enough i fear .. =[as i am a student i would need to find the cheepest but best value lens for my 450d. any ideas?

Unfortunately, anything wider than 17/18mm is fairly expensive.

if you really like that foreground/background distortion you can use Photoshop "distortion" filters - not the same as a real wide angle lens but it could give you the look

go for a sigma 10-20mm, it can be had for around $400-500 used

I have the Tokina 12-24 and use it on an XSi. It works great...and can be had used for $350 or so...

If you're going wide on a crop body the Tokina 11-16mm f/2.8 is the way to go, based on my personal experience (and some lens review sites).
