WPW Mini And Flex help

I've just picked up a set of mini and flex's and currently having a play maybe I'm missing something but if i dial the flash EV up or down on the camera the flash exposure is still the same, like wise if i dial it up or down on the flash it still stays the same, what am i doing wrong? :cry:
