In the Preferences Section, under the Tab "View settings" what numbers would you enter for Highlight/Shadow Alert?
I use 255 and 0 for Highlight and Shadow respectively, but wonder if a member has a different idea (and setting).

If you print a lot, it helps make sure that the printer/paper combination can handle the dynamic range of the image.
