Hey Geno.

She is adorable.but the first two seems to have missed something in her eyes? Could it be the light coming from under? The nose in the first also feels soft?
The last is too sweet...is it me, or can you see the difference in the eyes in the last one? Wish that lil smirk was on her in the third!

you're a great friend, but if Zombies chase us, I am tripping you.

You busted me! On camera flash... I tried bouncing but it wasn't cutting it so I stuck a stofen on. I just tried with our little munchkin with an extension cord to the flash on a tripod but she doesn't sit still like this one did. Not even for 1/2 of a second!

2 and 3 (of the first set) are swell Geno - though I agree with Tiff and Gail's comment on the flash.

Have you tried dropping these into LR and lowering the temperature? I'm certainly no expert, but I have picked up some great tips from Tony Long on "de-flashing" images (which I still suck at :))

Tough crowd! :)

Christian, I did lower the temp on these. They're not White kids, the first is East Indian and the second is half Jamaican. :)

We're in the first couple months of our nine month rainy season so outside stuff is getting tougher.

Geno, I'm avoiding doing anything for myself so I played with one.

I'll take it down if you like. :)

Great pose and look but yea just too flashy. Do you have an umbrella and stand?

What are you talking about rainy season? We had a beautiful day of sun today.

It looks like you warmed it up and Christian is telling me to cool it down. I'm confused. :)

I want one. Almost picked up a couple one day but... Umbrella or softbox?

Umbrellas are always nice... with a good one you'll be able to convert it from shoot-through to reflective and get a silver insert for specular highlights, etc. I've never been a huge softbox fan but then I've never dealt with studio strobes and I don't think speedlites do that great with them. You could also check out the DIY Beauty Dish threads; those look good, too.

Advantage with umbrellas is that they fold up really easily to be portable in 2 seconds.

Oh yea SUN today, TOO!

I bought a nice beginner kit from Adorama ($139) that came with 3 stands + sockets, 2 umbrellas, and a carry case. I almost never use my flash for indoor shoots anymore. I'm already eying some more expensive rigs.

As for a softbox - I'm thinking of using this DIY plan:
