The coyote (Canis latrans) is traditionally associated with the American West, and many people don't know that they are becoming a common occurrence in Florida.

I have been trying to locate one to photograph for quite some time now, and today I succeeded in finding one in the area of the Moccasin Island parking lot west of the Viera Wetlands.

Although these photographs are not technically very good, I was pleased to have seen a Florida Coyote in the wild.......

It was just behind the barbed wire fence

A crop to show the face

Four clicks of the camera's shutter and he took off accross the field

One last glance back to see where I was, and he was off

Beautiful shots!!! I hope they become an occurrence as far south as Miami. I'd love to capture some images like the ones you've posted. Maybe one day...

According to a 2007 FWC report, the presence of coyotes has been documented in all 67 Florida counties. All you have to do is find one.........

I live right at the edge of the Everglades and I'm out there all the time, so I certainly hope I do!

I've been told there are some near my neighborhood, but haven't yet seen one.

The Coyote can adapt to our cities. They can for instance be found in downtown Orlando. You may not have to go to the Everglades..........

I doubt I'll be seeing any coyotes in this city, but after living here all of my life and seeing the things I've seen down here, I guess anything is possible.

They have spread to here. I've had some success getting shots of them. Nice shots. The crop of the head is really good.

Great shot! I love pictures of Coyotes. The 3rd picture is my favorite how it's a side profile with a "smile"
