I'm just looking for an LCD protector/cover for my Canon 5DII and see these new style thin glass covers on ebay. there is a GGS brand and a Fotga branded one.

here are a couple links, GGS one: http://cgi.ebay.com …2ea628ed0d#ht_1708wt_1165 (external link)

and here is a Fotga one: http://cgi.ebay.com …3ca6979504#ht_3039wt_1165 (external link)

can someone that has one or anyone thats seen them or know anything about them give me some feedback don't wanna waste my time or money? and how easy can these come off if needed? they say they come off easy. but don't see how without damaging something?

i just want something thats better then those cheap thin film flexible plastic ones. not a fan of them.

would appreciate anyones input.

thanks,

Joel

how do you replace one of the original canon ones without marking the paint tho? mine doesn't have a mark on it. but want to keep it that way. I'd really like a cover for now..

The Canon LCD covers are very durable and it takes a bit of work to scratch one.

just not sure how these covers are?

thanks for you time.

Check the last post in the thread, that's from me. Unfortunately I don't have the picture of the incident anymore. I dropped the old 400D and the screen protector took the blunt force, yes it shattered but not a scratch or dent was left elsewhere.

Don't believe the "easy to peel off" statement, it took me ~30 mins to do so. The GSS screen is glass so easy to clean without having to worry about scratching it, but it sticks on pretty firmly so not something you will want to try to remove again unless you really have to. Is it worth it? Hmmm well even though it saved my 400D I didn't get one for my 40D and I don't think I'll get one for my 7D even, the "peeling off" being my main worry... It was easy when it was shattered and I could work my way from the sharp shears in the middle...

i thought only Nikon used actual glass for their LCD's? so i shouldnt worry about marking it? i'm worried about marking the glare coating.

I've got one of those eBay glass screen protectors on my 50D.. Big mistake sorry to say.. After 3 months the glue is going off and starting to go milky.. I haven't tried to get the protector for the fear of cracking or breaking it..

I'll have to wait until the glue lose it's adhesion but that could take forever..

Any solutions??

Just like many things, you get what you pay for in screen protectors. I used a bunch of different ones on the front and back of my iphone when I first got it, and pretty much all of the cheap ones are useless. The invisible shields from zagg are good, but expensive. I just removed the last one I had, and will be going proctector-less from now on. They're more of a pain than it's worth, IMO.

If you damage the stock protector, it's easily removed and replaced.

Jurgen, I think I'd just order a replacement cover and install it at that point.

Thanks Brett,,this could be a plan.. So far the glass protector isn't too much of a problem..

Lesson learnt..

This makes no sense. Ok, keeping it pretty does, but it you abuse your cameras that bad and it makes it harder to see teh screen...what do you expect with a protector? Their not scratch proof...well there is something that is if you want that. It's call invisi-shield.
