I was so pissed off about the Colorado Rockies loosing to the Phillies earlier this month I totally forgot I had these images.
I was working for MLB Network during Colorado's brief post season appearance. And while I do bring all my sound recording gear, I also bring along my camera with a lens or two. Still cameras are not allowed into the locker rooms after the game, so I could only bring one lens and then stuff the camera and lens into a backpack so I could do my real job of getting post game coverage in the locker room.
So I only rigged out my 40D with my 70-200 f4L. So during the mid part of the game I took a walk-about around the 1st level concourse to see what was to be seen, felt, heard and smelled at a Major League Basebal park durning postseason.
I can only share the images I got, the rest is in my head.
Before the game BP, Todd Helton and Jason Giambi, two fine 1st basemen
Helton gets a base hit in the 5th inning
Pitching in some very cold weather in front of a packed house in post season, tough, very tough
The outfield scoreboard at Coors Field
A shot from the where the center field TV cameras shoot from. Strike 3!
The temperature at the start of the game was only 25 degrees F. Being Fat, drunk and shirtless is no way to go through this game!
Garret Atkins getting a base hit
Doing stand ups after the game with Matt Yallof of MLB Network.
And yes, I did manage to steal the Mic flag to add to my collection. NFL, MLB, NHL, NBC...
I love my job. I get to do a lot of different types of sports and get access that many fans never get. I concider myself a fan with sound gear and access. On Nov. 9th I get to do Monday Night Football from Invesco Field for NFL Network. I'll be bringing my camera for that one too.
