Would this trigger work with canon XS? I'm planning to use it with 430exii. I see that it has a pc sync cord and canon xs doesn't have a sync cord connection. I see that the transmitter is connected to to the camera via hotshoe. Does it mean that I wouldn't need to use a sync cord since the transmitter is connected to the camera via hotshoe. Or they just put a hotshoe connection so that the transmitter would not just hang on the camera.

Thanks!

you can fire that by just sliding it into the hot shoe of your XS. But I wouldn't get that if I were you. Do some research here on members complaining about ebay/cactus triggers.

Yeah, that would work. You use the hotshoe on the receiver is for firing speedlites (like the 430) or you could hook it up to a strobe light with the pc cable (the cable goes from the receiver to the strobe, it's not used to connect the transmitter to your camera). The transmitter goes on your XS's hotshoe and sends the signal to the receiver.

FWIW I use the CTR-301P's, and I think they're considered more reliable and a bit more versatile as well (since they have an optical trigger as well).

Here is a link to the CTR-301P's (external link) In case you're interested.

I like them b/c I can actually sit my flash on a table or something like that with these, no stand needed... you can't really do that with the PT-04's.

Another (external link) ebay option that get great reviews. A little more expensive, but all reports seem to say they are as reliable as the "name brand" units. May be worth a shot.....
