i've been hired by my town to be a photographer for them that they can just call for certain things. i'm not exactly what this is going to entail yet, but i'm thinking its going to be certain landscape shots and whatnot and other shots used for tourism and economic development. i believe they will be getting me to shoot some events as well.
personally, i've wanted to go ultra-wide. and to do this, rather than spend $1000 on a 10-22 for my xsi, i'd figure i'd purchase a 5d and use my 17-40. but a 5d would leave me without a standard-ish zoom that i would probably need for events - i love primes for personal stuff, but don't have the confidence to use them when getting paid to get the shot. so that is something to consider.
also, i definitely want better high iso performance for concert photography. i had been happy enough with some iso 1600 shots from xsi before, but just took 800 shots at a music festival last weekend and not happy with.
