Hey guys!

I recently sold my 20mm f/1.8 and now the only lens I have is 50mm f/1.8. One of the reasons for selling the lens was that I am starting to feel a bit restricted with only 2 primes , so I was thinking of getting a general walk around lens and maybe upgrading to either a 30mm f/1.4 or 50mm f/1.4 from Sigmas for indoors, portraits, etc.

I was thinking the 28-135mm Canon as one of my options but think that the 28mm might be not wide enough. Are there any Tammys, Sigmas, Canons, etc in the 20-80mm range I can get for a reasonable price(which to me is about $400)? I know you guys say save until I can afford a better lens but I will be traveling during the Christmas break and want to have atleast one walk around lens for then!

Thanks for the suggestions!

Nothing wrong with getting an ef-s 18-55 IS lens. Bit more money, Tamron 17-50/2.8. Bit more money and wait a while Tamron 17-50/2.8 VC. Lots more money but worth it, ef-s 17-55/2.8 IS.

The 28-135mm makes a pretty nice travel lens for the price. But, as you note, some people find it annoying on a crop camera because it can't get particularly wide. I never found that a problem, as I know ahead of time it's limitations and adjust my shooting accordingly.

If you don't really need the length, then I'd definitely go with the Tammy 17-50mm.

Very true. I use mine more often than I thought I would.
