Better late than never I suppose. This was a fun local in-town wedding. Nothing was further than 3 minutes from my house. Gosh I love that!

Hmm, I put him against the lighter bricks so he wouldn't get lost, but I guess it still wasn't enough.

As for shooting in NY, I've had a few requests for it but generally turn them down. I don't prefer to travel for weddings. It was cool the first couple dozen times but really really tiring after that. There's nothing better than collapsing into your own bed only 15 minutes after leaving a 14 hour wedding. :)

Hey Svetlana!

No, I do not use tilt shifts for weddings. I have a 24mm TS-E but I never use it for weddings. I really don't like the weird tilt blur effect. But because I'm such a UWA whore, I'm really considering the 17mm TS-E. I am only interested in using SHIFTS though for perspective correction, and have no interest in tilt blurs.

The photo in question would have probably worked better if the Bride and Groom were switched.

The subway shot is great.

It is hard for people to comment on photos when there are so many. 8 is the limit for a reason. I understand... there are technically 8 images there. But the reality is there are 31. I suppose you didn't ask for people to comment though. Just looking for a a blanket statement like "nice photos."

5 BottomR seems out of focus... Overall, the rest are good. I hate that 10-22mm. I get better images when it's on the 50D. It's one lens i wish I never bought. I need to replace it. I can see in your images the same problems I get in mine. It does great for me with objects and landscapes... but on people, the IQ just isn't there.

Lloyd! You are funny. How do we bypass the 8 images rule? Look at Lloyd's stuff. Again, nice job! Love the down low shots a lot. King of wide.

Love these images!

Could you share how you took shots 4a and 4d (top left and bottom right). I love the off camera flash and how you've used it....

Well, it's darn near impossible to get the feel or flow of a wedding in 8 images. I tried to narrow it to 8, but then it just looks like a lineup of 8 portraits than any kind of flow.

I'm a little confused with your statements. Yes, there are more than 8 images; the reason is stated above. But I don't know why you assume that I am only looking for "blanket statements", especially when I specifically said that critiques are welcome.

And why is it that you hate the 10-22 so much? You talk about hating it and how it has problems but you don't give any explanation, nor any solutions that can help any of us reading. What is it that you hate so much about it? It is probably one of my favourite lenses. Yes, there is perspective distortion but it also adds a fresh unique perspective, which trumps IQ in my opinion.

I welcome your feedback but you seem rather irritated by seeing this thread. I thank you for your feedback nonetheless. :) cheers.

It's pretty simple, really.

For 4a I exposed the shot for the sky. Actually, I made the sky a little hotter than usual just to bring out some detail in the buildings behind them. Then I blasted flash on them from camera left so you can see them.

For the shot on the stairs, I wanted to add some drama to the scene. The lighting in that area was good, as you can see in shot 5a. But the available light was a bit too even and boring in my opinion, so I wanted some shots available light, and some shots with flash to give the couple a variety of looks. For this one, I basically, underexposed the couple by one stop, and shot the flash behind them, as you can see. I chose to go behind them as it would create a lot of shadows on the wall, and add dimensionality and depth to the people. The wall would reflect back some light and fill the couple in. Seeing as how the wall was orange, it gave them an orange tint, but I knew I would be cross processing these photos so it wouldn't matter. (I see the finished product before I click the shutter; it affects the way I shoot each shot)

So yeah, the flash was used for two completely different purposes in those shots.

Not irritated. Just don't like looking through a million pictures. Its hard to comment on them when there are so many to choose from. Maybe blog the images and send people to your blog if you want to show them the story of the day. If you would have put up your best 5 or 6 and then linked to your blog that showed them all I would have checked out the blog. Some really good photogs on here only post one picture and then link to their blogs... they get lots of replies and comments on their work and not just the one image.

Hmmm... didn't see the "please critique" at the bottom as I do now... i never read anything below the images. I just assume they are signatures. Guess we know what assuming does to people. Sorry for that!

I just don't like the 10-22. I love that it is wide. Have gotten some pretty sweet shots with it. Matter of a fact, just got one of my favs the other day with it. I will throw it in here when i get off the day job.

I just find when shooting people with it they quite often look like "crap." Sorry for the lack of technical talk... I thought it was just me but I see other pics with that lens from time to time and also see that people don't look good in it... unless you are right up on them. Quality is off when doing full body shots and such. I loved it when I first got it. It's now a love/hate relationship.
