I have seen a few photographers creating Gigapixel images in the Urban & Life and the Landscapes forums, hence I prefered to start this thread in this general thread.

I am very interested in doing Gigapixel work and just ordered the gear needed to start doing that. I have tried manually but it's way too much work so with automatic system it should be a breeze.

Anyways, to all of you doing or interested in creating Gigapixel images come on and share your experiences :)

Nowadays I shoot Nikon, but deep inside I am still a Canon lover... plus Nikonians don't have a cool place to hang like POTN :)

Really Misha? You must live in Harlem cause honestly that is a bit boring and bad gigapixel to me (not a fantastic location) and the sky stitch is all messed up...

yeah, I saw the missing cars and all, but I just the urban settings, though I must admit that the apertures that were used are a bit too wide.
any links to some good ones then?

I like the following:

is hard to get moving objects properly in a gigapixel image, even the clouds are hard if they are moving.

Yeah... is a great image amazing how they kept the clouds looking great (I guess there was no wind at all). I think landscapes, interiors and work of arts are the best option for Gigapixel imagery since there is almost zero movement. For a gigapixel image you need hundreds of pics which takes from 15 mins up to 30 mins to get (with a robot system)

Gigapixel images are made using several individual photos and stitched together. In order to do this you either need a Pano head and do the work manually or use a robotic mechanism to automatically take the pics. I ordered a robotic system, which I should get next week. I tried doing my first gigapixel (I needed at least 100 photos with my 5D II) manually but it was a pain in the butt, so I am switching to automatic.

Great Book

The very best book I have found on this subject is: Photographic Multishot Techniques: High Dynamic Range, Super-Resolution, Extended Depth of Field, Stitching, by J. and R. Gulbins

http://www.amazon.com …oks&qid=1257790272&sr=1-1 (external link)

A great web site is Max Lyons Image Gallery:
