Oh and here's what it looked like around this Buck when I stopped back by the same area an hour later! Can you see the deer?

We got to see a big buck when we were there but he was behind trees and was hard to get a good shot of, nice to see this one out in the open. I agree the traffic is horrible there right now!!

The crowds there in October have made it impossible to enjoy. The traffic jam through Cades Cove is just too much. (and it needs it badly!) I guess people will still be able to walk down the center of the cove on foot, so the really determined photographers will have more of the cove to themselves! Karen - You are right, the cove loop road is in bad shape. It was last paved in 1974, so those of us that frequent the area regularly are all for the road work. Funny thing is in talking to the Rangers they have not even given any thought to people walking into the cove. The press release that was issued listed the dates as March 1st to May 21st, and then stated that Cades Cove would be closed to ALL visitors. This wording has prompted many questions. You should be a "dumb tourist" photographer and give us action shots of dumb people in the act of stupidity vpnd - Not sure if you are "jerking my chain" or being serious ... But your suggestion is really not a bad idea! Bob
