Taken this weekend in Cades Cove, Great Smoky Mountain National Park .... east Tennessee.
It will be nice when all the "leaf watchers" go home and the traffic thins out. LOL

Oh and here's what it looked like around this Buck when I stopped back by the same area an hour later! Can you see the deer?

That poor deer! Reminds me of the deer and elk here that get mobbed by people with cameras. Nice first shot of this good looking buck!

Very nice shot. We got to see a big buck when we were there but he was behind trees and was hard to get a good shot of, nice to see this one out in the open. I agree the traffic is horrible there right now!!

Good one. The crowds there in October have made it impossible to enjoy. The traffic jam through Cades Cove is just too much. I've had guys stop in the road and leave the car to photograph a deer, blocking the road for 10-15 minutes.

Oh Sparker ... The stories that I can tell about the "touristas" in Cades Cove! Sometimes they are really scary!

Great Buck!

Good grief, I am glad we went when we did.

Did you read that next March-May the Cades Cove Rd. is being closed for road work?? (and it needs it badly!) I guess people will still be able to walk down the center of the cove on foot, so the really determined photographers will have more of the cove to themselves! :)

You should be a "dumb tourist" photographer and give us action shots of dumb people in the act of stupidity.

Karen - You are right, the cove loop road is in bad shape. It was last paved in 1974, so those of us that frequent the area regularly are all for the road work. Funny thing is in talking to the Rangers they have not even given any thought to people walking into the cove. The press release that was issued listed the dates as March 1st to May 21st, and then stated that Cades Cove would be closed to ALL visitors. This wording has prompted many questions.

Of course the walk to Hyatt Lane (where these photos were taken) is 5 miles each way!

You should be a "dumb tourist" photographer and give us action shots of dumb people in the act of stupidity

vpnd - Not sure if you are "jerking my chain" or being serious ... But your suggestion is really not a bad idea!
