Nice pics, Ryan. Nice to see some "real world" photos taken OUTDOORS instead of all of the "book" tests. Still waiting to see how this lens handles nice BRIGHT colours on a nice SUNNY day!! I hope they POP off the screen almost 3-D like as those from the Non VC version do.

Agreed, it looks like the VC works fine. I'm more interested to see how sharp it is and how the colors look.

Oh no prob, Ryan. Wasn't "rushing" you or any other shooter. Just saying as DStanic eluded to, the VC seems to work fine, we're just waiting to see how sharp this lens is, and how well it handles nice, bright colours.

It's all cool.

That's the one thing that had me leaning toward the non VC version over the EF-S 17-55 f2.8 I.S. lens. (aside from the cost factor) I just found that the colours from the Tamron were a lot BRIGHTER and had more "POP" than those from the Canon in the majority of the photos I've seen in the lens sample pages.

So if the VC version produces similar results, AND has VC, then it's a double jackpot whammy!!

Ok a mate popped round with his son so took the opportunity.
All handheld, all at 50mm (as that is where people seem to think this is at it's softest).
Bounce flash from a 430EXII off a ceiling approximately 7/8ft above the subject.
All 1/200s and ISO400. No PP at all.

f/2.8

I am liking this lens more and more :cool:

I am a very inexperienced togger so bear in mind my setting, and technique may not be getting the best out of this lens :)

Taken inside the dark clubs of New Orleans this weekend. I was pleased!

I rather like the blurring on the first image, but I think her face looks good and focused.

Those were nice shots taken with this lens. I do agree this lens is amazing

Unfortunately, my experience with this lens was not without issues. I want to find out are there any other users facing some issues that i've faced

Issues i faced were mainly AF related
1) Try focusing outdoors daytime with AI focus mode on a distant object, try small apperture >f16. See if it works and focus properly. Mine didn't work on AI focus or One Shot, have to change it to AI servo only it worked.

2) Try selecting manual focus point on f2.8 apperture focusing on a human subject. on the right or left or any other points. Take note if subject is clearly focus. Mine had occasionaly issues where subject won't focus but background is clearly in focus. Take few shots to confirm. Another test is take picture with 2 person... where u focusing on top right or top left on a person's face. See if it focuses properly. I didn't notice this issue until i took more than 300 shots.

3) Plugin your speedlite. See if it hangs. Mine hung on once when i plug in my 580ExII i had to on/off the camera.

4) Try focusing on a subject close distance (of course within the focusing range). See if it focuses correctly.

Just FYI, this is also currently being discussed in another forum.

With all the mixed reviews, I'm seriously considering cancelling my order (bought it from Henry's website, but it's not returnable) and waiting for it to be more widely available with more reviews.
