I really need to start getting what lenses I need in order. Starting w/ the 24-70 2.8L That's certainly a sweet lens, but isn't the range much more useful on a full frame? It doesn't go wide, and it doesn't get long enough to be a good portrait lens... When you got your 50mm 1.4 I told you you'd get more from the 85 1.8, and I still think so! Good luck whatever you decide, but before you pawn everything you own for the 24-70L, read the photozone.de review of the Tamron 28-75 F2.8. For some reason there is only the FF review, but in that one, Klaus makes clear that when used on a crop sensor camera, that lens is unbelievable, which seems to be the consensus on it anyway--except that it's an awkward range on crop sensors... It's like a quarter the price of the Canon equivalent, but sharpness-wise (but not build) I think it's ranked as its equal... If I find myself till using the Tamron, then I will keep it until I can get the 16-35, or 17-40? Who knows. I do have 'communication error's w/ the Tamron to my cameras which is really annoying and is making me not want to buy third party again. :/ Matt

Mookalafalas Cream of the Crop More info | Nov 20, 2010 08:39 | #310 I'd at least try to check with Tamron. I don't know what their after-service quality is like, but I would imagine it's pretty good. If you've had the problem, there's a good chance others have as well and they may know right off what you are talking about. I believe that Tamron is actually the world's biggest lens maker. That sounds odd until you stop to think they make versions for Canon, Nikon, Sony, etc., etc. They have the six-year warranty in the states, and I'll bet they want to keep their customers...
