I actually meant you would have to send in the lens, not the camera in my previous post, just to correct my error.

Question about this lens - Seems awfully pricey in the US ($650 before $100 rebate) compared to other countries ($450 Canada) and reading this thread I see it is $450 in Asia as well. Are these all the same lens? Do they come off the same assembly lines?

I know that if I buy a "foreign" model, the 6 yr Tamron Canada warranty is worthless, but there is a shop in Canada that will sell me one for $470 with a 7-year Mack International warranty and free shipping.

As long as the lenses are the same and the price differences just have to do with customs/importing/etc. Seems like I save $240 out of pocket, or $140 and don't have to mess with a rebate over the local shop ($649 =$710 with sales tax).

With a Mack warranty it should all be good right?

Sorry, I don't know what a Mack warranty is. That's a good price, though. For $650 I'd lean towards the Sigma, but for $470 I'd pounce on one of these...

Well, that doesn't sound like a bargain...it's only $460 on Amazon. If you go used, you could probably get a VC version for about that from someone here at POTN. You wouldn't have to worry about it being particularly old or worn since it's a pretty recent model...

Nope, the $450 price IS for the VC version, I confirmed it.

For that price I think it's a steal. Tamron has really been pushing sales lately with discounts and rebates and whatnot.

I found it from a Canadian dealer on ebay. Didn't get it though, after reading about the non-VC having better IQ, I found a used non-VC for $325. Very happy with it, really didn't have much need for VC in that FL.
