Hi folks,
I am thinking about buying the above lense for my EOS 400d what are your thoughts on this lense. and also the 2x convertor any info would be great

It compares very well to the Canon version. AF speed is fast, it's sharp wide open, and built very well. I don't care for the warmer color rendition of Sigma's anymore but that would be my only gripe. Canon's 70-200 is a bit sharper at 200, Sigma's 70-200 is a bit sharper at 70. Mike

Agreed. But that Sigma does takes a 1.4x convertor very well, with little or no noticeable loss in IQ. It's an excellent alternative to the Canon that you can find for the price of the 70-200 f4. "That which does not kill me better run really, really fast!"

It's a great lens really. I had it once went to the f4 from canon in same range and eventually came back to it. really fast to focus, sharp even wide open, some pp needed of course. great buy imho http://www.35mme.com
