Yes - they are very nice but from a critical point, here's what I see.

1. Nice

2. Maybe one Westcott 48x72 (or two V shaped) on the right side of the girls would help with some shadowing.

3. The girls in the back row are getting lost...Apple Boxes or even a 2x4 might help elevate them. Plus the girls in front to back need equal spacing: Ex: 0 0 0 0
0 0 0
0 0

This way, you can see all logos and all faces are clear.

4. Offset slightly to the right...the sunburst is too much from being too close behind. What's in the girls hair on the top right?

5. & 6. I think these are very good but - what is in the upper left corner/s? Either birds or oil spots!!

As always...these are very good though!

Really nice shots. Great job with the full-squad. That had to be tough to light, but you pretty much nailed with all faces well lit and no stubborn shadows.

Personally, I really like shots 4-6 due to the quickly setting sun which really nailed the focus squarely onthe girls with the BG nearly gone. Really nice work!

Thanks for the suggestions.

#2 I don't have any softboxes that large. My top light mod lust item is a supersized octabank to help with exactly the problem you identified. Too bad they are so damned expensive.

#3 Excellent points and suggestions. I totally rushed through that shot trying to get to the rest of my individual shots and honestly did not spend near enough time on arrangement.

#4 I noticed the same thing after looking at that shot more from one of the earlier comments. It's hair in her hair. I wasn't sure either until I went back to the original and zoomed way in. Some rouge tuft just going its own way. I cleaned it up in my original in case they order anything. Thanks for noticing it.

#5 & #6 It is dust on my lens from a shoot earlier in the day that I forgot to clean before these shots and didn't notice when I was prepping these to post. Also cleaned that up while looking at them.

Thanks again. I appreciate the critical eye.

Hey Kevin I know you have told me before but what light meter are you using? I just got a Sekonic L358 and have been messing with it a bit. Are you firing it remotely or with a cord? Pretty cool little tool for flash work.

That's the same one I have. I really like it and use it a lot. I used to trigger the strobes with the meter since I got the model with the built in radio but found that after you drop it a few times that function stops working.

I now just change the mode to cordless flash mode (2-2 on page 16 of the manual - Link here if you need it http://www.sekonic.com/images/files/L-358.pdf (external link)) and then trigger the strobes with the PW that goes on my camera or one of the extra PW's I have.

Also, thanks for the nice comments.

Big K,

This is an excellent series. I've had business on the player side and have had folks ask
about cheer, but I have yet to come up with anything for them. Cheer is usually right on
the track below the stands so I never get an angle for shots. Only got another week or so
to get some. Thought the comment about the nuke was pretty funny! I really do like the
pics.

Joemt.

Thanks. I had the same problem. Getting anything of them during the events was very tough so we just set up a time to do the photos when they didn't have anything else going on. It really worked out well and gave us lots of time to try different things. Unlike trying to do photos of the athletes, this group was all about having their pictures taken so it was really easy to do.
